For man’s best friend, Kenosha County boasts three expansive dog parks. The off-leash areas are a fun, safe place for dogs to run free and make new friends! Before your first visit, be sure to browse through “Dog Parks 101” on the Kenosha County website so you and your pup know what to expect.

Golfers delight in Kenosha County’s gorgeous courses. Get a tee time at Petrifying Springs, the oldest and largest park in the Kenosha County park system. The age of the course is evident through its gorgeous trees and rolling landscapes and attracts golfers from Wisconsin and Illinois. Brighton Dale Links courses are another gorgeous Kenosha County golf offering. Brighton Dale Links offers 45 holes surrounded by stunning scenery and well-manicured conditions. In fact, Golf Digest named Brighton Dale Links as one of the Best Places to Play!

Kenosha County residents also enjoy visiting the Kenosha Public Museum. With its focus on the natural sciences, the Kenosha Public Museum is home to two mammoths excavated in Kenosha County! Their permanent exhibit, Mammoths at the  Museum, highlight the Schaefer Mammoth and the Hebior Mammoth. The Schaefer Mammoth, is the earliest documented instance of a human interacting with a mammoth east of the Mississippi River. It was discovered in Kenosha County at one of the oldest homes of humans in all of the Americas! The Hebior Mammoth, the second featured mammoth at the museum, is the largest, most complete mammoth that has ever been excavated in North America.

In addition to incredible history, Kenosha County is also home to plenty of celebratory festivals! In July, don’t miss Taste of Wisconsin. It hosts about 30,000 guests each year and highlights Wisconsin’s best food and beverages throughout the weekend. Celebrate food and beverages in a different time by taking a step back to the 16th century at Kenosha’s Renaissance Faire. Visit the Renaissance Faire’s pubs and taverns on Thoren Grymm’s Pub Crawl while the children partake in Kids Quest, a treasure-hunting adventure that exposes all the magic of the Renaissance Faire!

Kenosha County has exceptional schools all the way from pre-Kindergarten to colleges and universities. Kenosha County is serviced by many school districts, the largest of which is the Kenosha Unified School District. Interestingly, KUSD offers many alternatives to a traditional, classroom education such as vocational academies, Montessori schools and award-winning charter schools. Business in Kenosha County

Kenosha County has a very successful business community, possibly because it is constantly in competition with companies in both Milwaukee and Chicago. History of Kenosha County

The first residents of Kenosha County were the Paleo Indians. In the early 1830s, settlers came from New York and began to form their own communities on the land that would become Kenosha County. Due to their initial success thanks to help from the Western Emigration Company, more and more settlers ventured to Kenosha County, setting up their homes near Lake Michigan. During most of the 20th century, the City of Kenosha produced millions of automobiles though factories that would eventually become a part of Chrysler Corporation.
