One of the fastest developing communities in Wisconsin, Saukville is located in the beautiful open country 25 miles north of Milwaukee. It has a combined population in the Village and Township of over 7,000 people. Saukville is one of the few communities that can call itself “progressive” while maintaining a rustic ambiance.

With efficient government services and a vibrant community, Saukville is an ideal place to live. Its industrial park and new Dekora Woods Business Park are home to a variety of thriving businesses and industries. Aside from the many business opportunities available, it hosts many events and activities for its residents to partake in.

Saukville has eight parks featuring picnic shelters, baseball fields, tennis and volleyball courts, soccer fields, an ice rink, fishing ponds, hiking trails, historic Native American crossroads and an archery range. Outdoor enthusiasts find their way to the Riveredge Nature Center, a 351-acre sanctuary that includes 12 miles of cross-country skiing and hiking trails. Or they frequent one of the many natural geographic features such as the Cedarburg Bog and Milwaukee River.

It also has a fantastic aquatic center offering many water activities. Also popular with the locals is the summer music series, Live at the Triangle – a free concert featuring food, beverages and a car and bike show.

No small, rural town would be complete without a farmers market. Every Sunday June 19th through October 30th the Saukville Farmers’ Market features fresh, in-season Wisconsin produce grown by area farmers as well as green house and floral products and artisan quality crafts.

Saukville also takes great pride in their community, holding an annual community cleanup called River Fest – an opportunity to clean up along the banks of the Milwaukee River, Village parks and streets.

History
Prior to the 1830s, the Menomonee Indians inhabited Saukville. In 1832, the United States Government blazed two military roads that passed through Saukville. Named the Dekora Road and the Sauk Trail, these roads were a catalyst for migration to Saukville.

In 1848, the Town of Saukville was created.
