Time to Sell? Six Signs that are Pointing to Yes!

When you buy a home, you are under no impression that you will stay there forever but when is the right time to go? Ending things with your home is no easy task. You have built memories there that will last a lifetime, but there are certain signs that come up that are hard to ignore. Here are the six signals that it’s probably time to move on:shutterstock_3712753811. The house is starting to feel too small. Maybe your family is growing, maybe you have added more pets or maybe the three rooms of collectible trains are impeding on your living space. Whatever it is you can try to pare down on things or hold a rummage, but if you still feel like you are living on top of one another, it may just be time to move into a large space.

2. The house is starting to feel too big. This is the case for empty nesters. When children or family move out of the home, the space can be too much. If you are feeling like you are cleaning more rooms that no one uses than actually enjoying your home, it may be your sign to downsize.

3. You are tired of your surroundings. Perhaps your neighbors are a bit much, and it is finally getting to you. Maybe all of your old neighbors moved out, and the neighborhood is slowly turning into a dynamic that you do not want to be a part of. Or if you are thinking of your children’s education and not impressed by the current schools, this also may be a big part of wanting to move.

4. Remodeling or adding on won’t give you the return on your investment. Take a look at the homes around you. Is the priciest home in the neighborhood similar to yours? It may not be in your best interest to spend money to give your home a face-lift if you will not see the benefit of it. This may be your time to upgrade to a new home!

5. After you take a look at your finances, you can afford to sell. Selling your home does mean that you will be making money. However you will also need to find a new place to live which also costs money. Making sure you have a sizeable savings will allow peace of mind throughout the selling and buying process.

6. You are ready to enter the competition. Living in a seller’s market will make selling your home a breeze. However on the flip side, you will need to become a buyer as well and from this perspective it might take a little more work to be able to buy the home you want. If you are going to get into the game, make sure you are ready for a little competition.shutterstock_284732567Making the decision to sell your home is never easy.
