Our Shorewest Family is ingrained in our local communities. This spring when the pandemic struck and many were struggling, many of our Shorewest associates, employees and their families jumped in to help others who needed a hand up.

From baking cookies to writing thank you notes to making handmade face masks to providing lunches and snacks and to collecting food for community pantries, our team turned small and simple things into amazing acts of kindness.

Appreciating school teachers and emergency workers

It takes a special person to be a teacher, and even more special when their routines are turned upside down and they’re forced to teach virtually. An associate from our Watertown Office, stepped in to provide lunches for school teachers when they were preparing packets for students for a drive through pick up. Plus, she provided lunch for one teacher’s young family.

Another office created care packages for their local fire department heros.

Supplying our food pantries

With more and more people out of work, our local food pantries saw a significant increase in people needing assistance. Our leadership jumped in by delivering a truck load of staples like disinfectant wipes, toilet paper, cereal as well as a monetary donation. Their kindness was contagious with many of our offices and associates holding their own food drives for their local communities.

Making face masks for others

From sewing individual masks to putting pre-packaged ones together, several of team members and their families made masks to help protect those on the front lines.

Recognizing others

Sharing gratitude and thanking others in an important act we’ve seen again and again this year. Our Northshore Office printed and distributed more than 800 signs, recognizing and thanking essential work places, while raising over $7,000 for Feeding America and other local charities.

Shorewest found new ways to congratulate and celebrate graduates during this year. We displayed banners outside our offices, as well as personally recognized graduating high school and college seniors with a yard sign and hand-written notes.

Supporting local businesses

While many businesses were forced to close their doors during the early stages of the pandemic, many restaurants shifted their resources to take out and delivery. One of our associates created a Facebook group to help others in her community know what businesses were open. Today the group has over 8,300 members and continues to support small, local restaurants.

As a company, we are deeply rooted in the communities and people we serve. Giving back to the communities we serve and providing for those in need is a commitment we truly enjoy fulfilling.
