New Berlin (population – 39,865) sits on the outskirts of beautiful Waukesha County and is advantageously situated between Madison and Milwaukee. The city has an expansive industrial park, comprised of more than 599 businesses and 13,000 employees. In addition, New Berlin is a city with a strong commitment to community forestry; it was honored as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation – a recognition it received for a tenth year in 2011.

In 2009, Money Magazine ranked New Berlin #34 in its Top 100 List of Best Small American Towns in which to live.

New Berlin has received two prestigious technology awards: 2011 Digital City Survey winner and the 2012 CIO 100 Award Honoree recognizing New Berlin’s constant striving to be at the forefront of cutting edge technology for cities.

Amenities
New Berlin offers a wide range of sports and activities such as soccer, biking, playgrounds, cross-country skiing, walking, disc golf and traditional golf. It currently boasts 26 parks expanding approximately 855 acres. The city’s well-forested areas not only provide a great rural-feel, but also help maintain the area’s high property values.

New Berlin hosts many events throughout the year, including the Big Tree Contest, Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park and the City Wide Halloween Party.

History
The first settlers, Sidney Evans and P.G. Harrington, arrived in what is now the City of New Berlin in 1836. The area was initially part of the Town of Muskego, and in 1839 was separated to become the Town of Mentor.

On January 13, 1840, the Town of Mentor became the Town of New Berlin. The town remained primarily agricultural until the 1940s when people from the city migrated west towards suburban areas. The Town of New Berlin became the City of New Berlin in 1954.
