Spring is here! Before the flowers start budding, it’s time to start spring cleaning and freshening up your home. Here are five ways to freshen your home up for spring:
1. Bring in the outdoors. It’s time to add fresh plants and flowers indoors. Better Homes and Gardens suggests gathering a few fresh flowers for dramatic texture and rich colors. Whether it’s to add color to your dining room table, or an addition to your office, add the freshness of plants or flowers!
2. Add color. The easiest way to add freshness to your home is with a new paint color. It doesn’t have to be a dramatic change — you can take your white walls and turn them into a light yellow. You can paint an accent wall or repaint your front door. If you don’t want to paint, try adding in new wall art.
3. Reorganize your bookshelves. Now is a great time to take everything off your bookshelves, in your office, bedroom or living room, and clean it. Dust your books and the space that they are going back on. You can reorganize your books; stack them in different directions or by color.
4. Update your window treatments. As you are freshening up the rest of your house, your window treatments often get overlooked. After you cleaned your windows and blinds, start thinking about your window treatments. Add light, breezy curtains — they automatically brighten up your space. Try roman shades — they help control light and privacy, but are updated.
5. Welcome your entryway. Update your floor mats and add a wreath to your front door. Make sure you have a “landing spot” after you walk in — so you can place your keys, work bag and to hang up your jacket. Your entryway gives the first impression of your home, so add your personality and style.
